Dear Students, dear future microfluidic experts!
For the lecture  163.180 Rapid prototyping of microfluidic devices a bundle of slides will be provided to give you an overview about the development, state of the art and application of manufacturing microfluidic devices. Pleas go through those slides to get the bigger picture. A bundle of question for each set of slides will be given which should be answered via TUWEL.  Afterwards we will give you an introduction how to download and work with the CAD software Fusion 360 from AUTODESK (MAC OS and WIN). This software will be used to create a digital prototype which can be used for manufacturing and simulating afterwards. We would like that you create a  digital prototype in Fusion 360 and a short description of half a page with an explanations of design considerations of your device.  There will also be a small calculation  exercise to gain a better understanding of fluid dynamics which needs to be handed in. This will replace the lab hands-on experience by a software based exercise this semester and determine your grade. In this way we hope everybody is able to get the content of the lecture and credits she or he has planend for this semester.
Schedule:
Until the 30th of April: Please write a  confirmation e-mail at  sebastian.kratz@tuwien.ac.at  if you want to participate in this course. That helps us to keep track that nobody will be lost through the e-learning process.
1st of May: We will open  TUWEL for the course where you can find the material and the forum to ask questions concerning the lecture. Here will provide you an introduction how to download and use Fusion 360 for building up a CAD file for a microfluidic chip, an option to upload the files and to answer the calculation exercise.
31st of May: Deadline for answering given questions in  TUWEL.
Until the 15th of June: Deadline for handing in your prototype file and the calculation.
If you have further questions please contact Sebastian Kratz (sebastian.kratz@tuwien.ac.at), we hope that this will be a satisfying way to conduct our lecture for this semester!
Stay healthy!
